If Halloween does not scare or shock you, then National Geographic Channel has something that just might. This month, NGC takes viewers into the world of nature's killers in "Predator1 CSI 2." However, the focus is not on how these creatures kill.
Just the opposite, it
looks into the mysterious attacks on the killers themselves. NGC uses
advanced techniques in photography2 and crime scene investigation3 to find out the truth about these unusual deaths.
One of these is still happening
to this day. The island state of Tasmania is located 240 kilometers southeast of Australia. Within its unique ecosystem4 lives an equally unique animal, the Tasmanian Devil. This creature is the largest meat-eating marsupial5 in the world. However, this Tasmanian icon is being threatened by a
violent killer, and these creatures have been dying
at an alarming rate across the entire island. In the last 10 years, around 80,000 Tasmanian Devils, which is half of the total population, have already been
wiped out.
Scientists are working hard to solve this problem in the episode, "Mutant6 Devils."
