RACHEL, Nev. -- A mysterious 10-year-old girl who has spent her entire life on a U.S. Air Force base is a human-alien hybrid, a leading scientist claims.

The child named Nina has peculiar, catlike eyes, reptilian spikes that run down her back, webbed hands and odd external tissue that resembles gray matter, startling photos released by the expert show.

Geneticist Dr. Farley Youngbred of Washington, D.C., says that in early June, he received a stack of classified photos of the girl and documents concerning her from an Air Force source he refused to identify.

"From even a cursory examination of those photos, it is obvious that the child has some nonhuman traits and that these are not simple birth defects," said Dr. Youngbred.

The girl is reportedly being held at a once-top-secret facility known as Area 51, located on the grounds of Nellis Air Force Base near here. For decades, the government denied that the facility existed, but earlier this year, officials reluctantly admitted that it is used for secret research.

Over the years, various UFO buffs trying to get a glimpse of Area 51 from beyond the fenced-off perimeter have snapped telephoto pictures of the mystery girl at play -- sometimes riding a bike or jumping rope outside the modest, one-story house she calls home. But the photos supplied to Dr. Youngbred are the clearest ever to surface and truly seem to depict a semi-human child.

Despite this dramatic, concrete evidence of the girl's existence, the government has issued a strong denial that she is any form of hybrid.

"The Air Force has no knowledge of any child living in Area 51, nor is this child in any way related to government research involving possible extraterrestrial life," an official said.

Dr. Youngbred believes Nina's mother is former UFO abductee Jackie Hubyck, who has been living on the base since 1990 and is referred to in documents as "the embryo host."

The basic facts of Miss Hubyck's strange story have been easy to verify independently.
According to Tennessee law enforcement officials, the Memphis woman was reported missing by relatives in June of 1989 while driving to a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
She was found by forest rangers six days later -- wandering through the woods in a daze, stark naked.
