Hungary's wealth of attractions leaves visitors hungry for more.
匈牙利多樣豐富的觀光景點令所有訪客流連忘返。
The country of Hungary is earning a strong
reputation through Europe and beyond for its many tourist attractions. Since the fall of the
USSR, Hungary has been working to
regain its place in Europe. Now a part of the European Union and with an improving economy, it has become a popular travel
destination.
Hungary is one of the oldest European countries, and it
boasts a
nationhood dating back to the 9th century. This long history has allowed Hungary to produce
a wealth of architectural
gems, from the
magnificent cathedrals and churches of its capital, Budapest, to romantic
ruins of castles which
dot the countryside.
What's more, Hungary is rich in
thermal water, the water that makes hot springs hot. Like its architecture, Hungary's
spa culture has a long history. The Romans built the first hot water spas in what would later be known as Hungary, and since then, spas have been an important part of Hungarian life. There are approximately 450 public hot baths in the country, and Budapest uses two million bathtubs'
worth of thermal water every day.
Even the food in Hungary is hot. Paprika (紅椒粉), a spice
made from a kind of pepper, is used to give much of Hungary's
cuisine a spicy flavor. The national dish is
goulash, a beef
stew laced with hot peppers, which is often
balanced out by sour cream.
These attractions have made Hungary one of the world's top 15 tourist destinations
over the past 10 years. Thanks to its amazing architecture,
soothing spas, and famous food, this is a trend that is sure to continue.
